Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fasting and abstinence. This means no snacking between meals and no meat. Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence (no meat). The Stations of the Cross will be prayed before the evening Masses; starting at 5:15 pm. The PREP program will be involved in the Rice Bowl program. Consider adding a personal practice for Lent instead of "giving up" something (unless you're giving up a bad habit). consider reading the Bible every day, saying a family Rosary, or a daily or weekly act of kindness. Going to Reconciliation is another practice important to Lent. All Catholics are required to receive the Eucharist during the Easter season. But, you also need to go to Confession in order to properly receive the Eucharist. Plan to go a couple of time during Lent so you have the assurance of forgiveness of all your sins.
